Multiple Sclerosis is an immune mediated inflammatory disease that attacks myelinated nerves in the central nervous system. It can cause both Multiple Sclerosis Pain Neck and Multiple Sclerosis Pain in Feet. The nerves in our body are covered with a sheath called myelin that protects them and also helps in the faster transmission of signals from the brain to the nerves. When myelin is damaged, the signals are partially or completely lost depending on the severity of the damage. This eventually causes the nerves to wither, giving rise to Multiple Sclerosis or MS. One of the syndromes of MS is pain in the hands, feet or neck. Multiple Sclerosis pain in feet may cause difficulty in walking and maintaining balance. A patient suffering from pain in the hands may find it very difficult to perform any activity with their hands. Multiple Sclerosis pain neck may be a dull throbbing sensation or waves of pain that are unbearable. The intensity of pain depends on the nerves that have been damaged, as well as the severity of the damage.

They are administered depending on the condition of the patient and the severity of MS. These medications include anticonvulsant drugs like Neurontin, Tofranil, Klonopin and Valium. Besides these, there are other drugs like Fortalgesic and Tramal that relieve Multiple Sclerosis pain neck and Multiple Sclerosis pain in feet. Both of these drugs act as false neurotransmitters at the receptor sites in the spinal cord and brain stem to provide relief from the pain. These drugs can be administered orally, by injection or through implanted pain pumps. Along with the medication, patients should be educated about the purpose of the medication along with the adverse side effects, if any. It is important to note here that medication helps the patient cope with the pain by alleviating the sensation of pain and preventing further damage. It does not reverse the damage already done to the nerves.Over-the-counter pain relievers like aspirin is unable to give any pain relief, but can reduce other symptoms like fatigue.
